A curated experience
About Restaurante Chañarmuyo
Amid the arid landscape of the Chañarmuyo Valley in Famatina, the restaurant at Casa de Huéspedes Chañarmuyo invites visitors to discover La Rioja through its local ingredients, traditional recipes, and high-altitude wines.
The kitchen is led by local cooks and combines La Rioja’s culinary traditions with contemporary techniques and preparations, using artisanal products, regional ingredients, and vegetables grown on the estate.
Gastronomy
The concept begins with a simple idea: cooking according to the rhythms of the land.
The restaurant works with local producers and uses meats, seasonal fruits, and vegetables from its own garden, seeking to ensure that each ingredient reflects the landscape and natural cycles of the Chañarmuyo Valley.
The cuisine revisits traditional flavors of northern Argentina and brings them into a contemporary experience. Dishes include homemade meat, humita, and goat empanadas, tamales, meats, suckling pig, and pizzas prepared in a clay oven, along with other dishes that vary according to seasonal availability.
Wines & Pairings
Wines from Bodega Chañarmuyo play a central role in the gastronomic experience.
The estate is located more than 1,700 meters above sea level, where the conditions of the high-altitude desert create wines with a distinctive identity.
The restaurant pairs its dishes with different labels from the winery, available by the glass or bottle, including white, rosé, and red wines that showcase different expressions of the Chañarmuyo vineyards.
One of the available experiences combines a three-course menu — starter, main course, and dessert — with a sequence of wines, allowing guests to explore different styles produced by the winery throughout the meal.
From Garden to Table
Some of the vegetables used in the kitchen come directly from Chañarmuyo’s own organic garden.
The estate complements its own production with ingredients sourced from local producers, reducing distances and maintaining a direct relationship with the people who grow and produce the food.
This philosophy allows the menu to evolve with the seasons while maintaining a close connection between the cuisine and the surrounding landscape.
Spaces
The restaurant offers two different dining settings.
Outdoors, a terrace overlooking the landscape allows guests to dine with views of the vineyards, mountains, and vast valley. The Guest House also features outdoor tables shaded by an old carob tree.
For colder or warmer days, an air-conditioned indoor dining room ensures that the experience can be enjoyed throughout the year.
Winery & Experiences
The gastronomic experience can be complemented with a visit to Bodega Chañarmuyo, located on the same estate.
Visitors can explore the vineyards and winery to learn about the history of the project, the characteristics of the soils, and the winemaking process. Guided tastings are held at the Guest House.
In this way, the restaurant, vineyards, and winery become part of a single wine and gastronomic experience, allowing visitors to discover Chañarmuyo from vineyard to table.
Setting
The restaurant is surrounded by a landscape unlike most other Argentine wine regions: high-altitude vineyards set within La Rioja’s desert landscape, at the foot of the Andean foothills.
Mountains, gardens planted with native species, the organic garden, and rows of vines surround the property, reinforcing the peaceful and secluded character of the Guest House.
