About El Esteco Winery
In Cafayate, at the heart of the Calchaquí Valleys, Bodega El Esteco combines the winemaking tradition of northern Argentina with the production of high-altitude wines. Its vineyards grow at more than 1,700 meters above sea level, in a dry climate with significant temperature variations and alluvial soils—conditions that give its wines a distinctive character.
Winery & Vineyards
El Esteco is known for its iconic colonial-style building, surrounded by historic vineyards, verandas, and interior courtyards. Inside, concrete vats coexist with stainless steel tanks and French and American oak barrels.
In addition to its vineyards in Cafayate, the winery also works with the terroir of Chañar Punco in Catamarca, located at approximately 2,000 meters above sea level.
Wines
The winery produces a variety of ranges and styles that express the high-altitude terroirs of the Calchaquí Valleys. Its portfolio includes Torrontés, Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc, as well as blends and wines produced from historic vineyard parcels.
Wine Tourism
El Esteco offers tours of the winery and vineyards accompanied by wine tastings. It also provides special experiences such as Entre Añadas, premium wine tastings, horseback rides through the vineyards, and Noches Mágicas, an experience combining wine, sunset views, and regional cuisine prepared around the fire.
Patios de Cafayate
Located on the same estate, Patios de Cafayate Wine Hotel occupies the property’s historic main house and is surrounded by El Esteco’s vineyards.
The hotel features 32 rooms and suites, while its restaurant offers northern Argentine cuisine accompanied by El Esteco wines produced just a short distance away. This integration allows visitors to combine accommodation, gastronomy, winery tours, and tastings within a single wine tourism experience.
